Start-Stop Technology cuts Carbon Emissions
Vehicles featuring Start-Stop technology are growing ever more popular. In the future these vehicles are likely to start appearing at workshops for servicing. With Start-Stop technology, the engine turns off automatically when the car comes to a stop at a red light or in stationary traffic.
The engine is started again when the driver engages the clutch or accelerator. This energy-saving technology results in considerably lower fuel consumption, saving as much as 10%. It reduces CO2 emissions in equal measure and is extremely easy to use. As this technology is integrated into Automatic as well as Manual vehicles, the demand for the batteries to support this is growing.
Varta, one of Bristol Batteries premium brands is one of the pioneers of these batteries, working closely with several of the major car brands including Volkswagen, developing what is turning out to be an entirely new type of battery. The Start-Stop technology relies entirely on the battery for powering the electrical devices when the car comes to a stop and reliably restarting the engine, which is no easy feat!
Whilst the technology is still very new, it is the way of the future with more pressure being laid by Government to cut CO2 emissions, it is expected that by 2015 more than 16 million new Start-Stop vehicles will be manufactured in Europe, so the future support of these vehicles needs to considered now, Bristol Batteries is proud to be stocking this new range and would welcome any questions you might have.”
